One more perfect pencil.
It looks like the original green plastic version has been updated.
The newer version has some minor cosmetic differences and a major functional difference – the pencil is now held in the extender by friction or tension, rather than a screw on mechanism.
It is also offered in Japan in a black version, shown in the photos here. The black version comes with a round pencil, black with black dyed wood.
Something else I hadn’t noticed is that the Castell 9000 pencils supplied with the green version (and in the refills) are marked in silver, while the general Castell 9000 pencil has gold markings.
Some side ribbing seems to be the main surface difference.
It is hard to say this authoritatively, but I sense prices have been reduced in most markets compared with the original.

The black PP is really nice. Too bad there are no fitting black FC9000 refills.
You mentioned the silver/gold letters of the green refills. Another difference of the green refills compared to the normal FC9000 pencils is that the refills are only marked on two sides (normal FC 9000: three sides).

I had the green plastic version for a while. Found that the sharpener was quite inadequate. On the whole though Faber-Castell products are great.
This is the Perfect Pencil for us black pencil lovers. The Pentel 999 looks fantastic in this Perfect Pencil. The Tombow Mono 100 and Mono Pro’s look stunning and Nava Design, Kirin, Lyra Art Design, Koh-I-Noor Toison d’Or and Stabilo micro 288’s look great too. And for all of us Halloween lovers you just need to stick a Palomino pencil in this Perfect Pencil and your costume is complete with the perfect writing accessory.
